Chiropractic Care - FAQs

  • What Is Chiropractic?

D.C.s are Doctors of Chiropractic medicine with their main focus being the human spine. Chiropractors adjust the spine with precise manual thrusts to allow the spine and vertebrae to move back to their natural position. Chiropractors aren’t just limited to adjusting the spine, they are also trained in treating the neck, legs, and arms. Since chiropractic adjustments move the vertebrae away from the nerve, chiropractors can naturally help with a wide variety of ailments. These include: headaches, allergies, specific types of migraines, asthma, menstrual cramps, spastic colon, stomach disorders, and leg, hand, and arm pain that is caused by misalignment of the lower back and neck. Chiropractic care can take pressure off of the chest and allow patients with emphysema and asthma to improve their breathing. Studies have shown that when chiropractors manipulate the neck it assists in the proper draining of the ears, thus alleviating ear infection that troubles children.

  • What Happens During a Chiropractic Examination?

On your first visit, our doctors will document the patients’ medical history, take an x-ray, and perform neurological, physical, and orthopedic examinations. Doctors of Chiropractic spend vast amounts of their time examining the spine, assessing posture, testing joint motion, reflexes, and muscle strength. At Spinal Health Professionals, we use multiple sources such as x-rays and MyoVision to locate dysfunctional vertebrae and to count out disorders like fractures in the vertebrae and tumors.
